SALLY
has been to
Venice
, staying in the fabulous
Centurian Palace
, which was a real treat and the perfect location
fromwhich to explore this fascinating city!! FromVenice she took
the train to
Florence
. Italian trains always work so well and this
was a great way to join these two cities. She stayed at The
Villa
Medici
– which again is a wonderful hotel in a good location. Even
the cold weather could not spoil this wonderful city. From Florence
she drove to
Perugia
stopping for lunch en route at the
Hotel
Castello Banfi
to taste some of the wonderful wines they produce
from their surrounding vineyards. Perugia is a most interesting and
bustling hilltop town (famous for its Etruscan ruins and the most
delicious chocolate!). Sally stayed at The
Hotel Brufani Palace
which is the perfect place to stay, with wonderful views of the
surrounding countryside.
Rome
itself was rather out of bounds as
the new Pope was about to make his first public appearance, but
she was there to soak up the atmosphere and had lunch at the
Hotel Villa Spalletti Trivelli
, which is the home of a famous
Italian family with lots of wonderful antiques and original paintings
(including a Rubens). If you would like more details about any of
the hotels mentioned, just give Sally a call and she would be more
than happy to tell you all about them.
DIANA
visited the enduringly beautiful city of
Paris
travelling out on Eurostar. She stayed
at
Le Meurice
which is a stunning ‘palace’ hotel centrally located in the heart of the city with a
three Michelin star restaurant. With the huge variety of different restaurants and choice of
museums and monuments to visit, no two visits to this amazing city need ever to be the same.
From Paris she journeyed by train to
Bordeaux
which is enjoying something of a renaissance
recently. It has wonderful 18th Century architecture and in the centre boasts the
Grand Hotel
de Bordeaux
situated opposite the Grand Theatre and right inside the Golden Triangle. A
perfect base from which to explore not just the city but the outlying vineyards including St.
Emilion.
Monte Carlo
was the final destination transferring from Nice airport by helicopter, which is a
wonderful way to arrive into the principality. What a wonderful destination for a short break all
year round with its mild climate and 300 days of sunshine. Plenty to see and do in Monte Carlo
which also has world class restaurants along with lively brasseries to enjoy! Diana stayed at the
KAREN

RivieraMaya
in
Mexico
on the
YucatanPeninsula
staying inmany of
the leading properties along this particularly spectacular stretch of coastline.

archaeological sites such as Chichen Itza and the colonial city of Mérida; discovering this destination
has muchmore to offer than just beaches.
This area has much to offer now that British Airways and Virgin fly direct into Cancun. There is
accommodation to suit all tastes – from the intimate, boutique-style hidden away gems to larger,
more sophisticated hotels; definitely something for everyone.
GAIL
has travelled to some of the most popular winter sun
destinations.
Oman
offers an enthralling blend of ancient sights
and Islamic customs, sprinkled with a touch of eastern glamour
and luxurious resort hotels such as
The Chedi
. This resort is
exquisitely designed in traditional Omani architecture mixed with
Asian Zen-style. It was good to see the
Al Bustan Palace
after
the two year refurbishment and the
Shangri La
which is a superb
resort for families.
Prepare to be completely captivated by
The British Virgin
Islands
. Peppered with deserted beaches and blessed with
exclusive resort enclaves, the allure of these islands soon takes
hold. Great for island hopping on a chartered yacht combined
with relaxing at one of the delightful hotels such as
Little Dix Bay
,
Biras Creek
or
Peter Island
. Gail would also love to tell you all
about her stay on Richard Branson’s fabulous
Necker Island
.
