Q Magazine - Spring 2020

K aren visited the magical city of St Petersburg , visiting the Hermitage, St Isaac’s Cathedral and the iconic Church on the Spilled Blood, which is St Petersburg’s finest example of traditional Russian architecture with dazzling mosaics and colourful onion domes. The next visit was spent out of town visiting the summer palace of the Tsars, stopping at the traditional Russian restaurant ‘Podvorie’. However, no visit to this citywould be complete without an evening of ballet, on this occasion, Cinderella. Last, but not least, was a visit to the Fabergé Museum, exhibiting the world's largest collection of Imperial Easter Eggs. A four-night short break is highly recommended! Karen also travelled to the Caribbean, firstly stopping in Barbados , staying at the Fairmont and Sandy Lane , visiting several of the Elegant hotels during her stay. Then it was a short flight to the up and coming island of Canouan , staying at the MandarinOriental with its fabulous infinity pool and grand, spacious rooms. They also have some wonderful villas, which are great for families! M elissa spent a wonderful longweekend walking around Guernsey enjoying the stunning coastline and delicious cuisine. There are many convenient flights from regional airports in the UK and there’smuchmore to Guernsey and her islands of Alderney, Sark and Herm than people think. There are the fabulous traditional cream teas and seafood suppers, plus, of course, the superbwhite sand beaches, hidden coves and wonderful cliff-top paths. In addition to this there are some great places to stay – either hotels or self catering options and some excellent new restaurants and bars are opening. Apart from some amazing walks, there is plenty to do and see. An excellent choice for families and couples alike.
